Liquitex Professional Soluvar Matt Varnish, 237 ml

Low viscosity Soluvar® is the perfect final varnish for dry acrylic or oil paint. This varnish not only reduces the intensity and depth of color, but also minimizes surface glare. Additionally, it comes in Gloss, which can be mixed with other finishes for a range of sheens.

Soluvar® is both a permanent and removable final varnish for acrylic and oil paintings. It serves to safeguard the painting surface and enables the removal of surface dirt without causing harm to the underlying artwork. Once the surface is cleaned, another coat of Soluvar® can easily be reapplied.

To adjust the viscosity of Soluvar®, mineral spirits or turpentine can be added. It is important to note that Odorless Mineral Spirits should not be used in this process. When dry, Soluvar® forms a clear, non-tacky, water-resistant film that is hard and prevents the retention of dirt. This protective layer also acts as a barrier against dirt and pollutants that could potentially damage the paint surface.

One of the key features of Soluvar® is its self-leveling properties. This means that it will not retain brush strokes, resulting in a smooth and even finish. Furthermore, the varnish is flexible and will not crack as the surface expands and contracts due to changes in temperature and humidity.

Soluvar® is resistant to discoloration, remaining non-yellowing and non-fogging even in high humidity, heat, and exposure to ultraviolet light. This makes it suitable for both interior and exterior use, ensuring that your artwork is preserved and protected in various environments.
