The Liquitex modeling paste gel painting medium is crafted from marble paste, consisting of marble dust and 100% polymer emulsion. This medium is ideal for constructing heavy textures on rigid supports and forming three-dimensional shapes. Once dried, it achieves the hardness of stone and can be sanded or carved. By removing the container's lid and allowing some water to evaporate slowly, the paste can be manipulated like clay until it reaches a clay-like consistency. It adheres well to any non-oily absorbent surface.

Application of the modeling paste can be done using various tools such as a palette knife, trowel, paintbrush, or cake decorating tips to achieve different effects. To prevent shrinkage cracks, let it dry slowly by loosely covering it with plastic wrap. When applying, keep the layer thickness under 1/4". It can be mixed with acrylic colors to create a colored tinted paste, and once dry, can be painted over with acrylic or oil colors.

For sculptural purposes, apply thin layers and allow each to dry before adding the next. If cracks develop, let them dry and fill them in with an additional thin layer of acrylic modeling paste. When working on a rigid surface, use the paste straight from the container. For flexible supports, mix Liquitex acrylic modeling paste with gloss gel medium, matte gel medium, gloss heavy gel medium, or super heavy gel medium in a 50/50 ratio.
